12. October 2012 The City Protocol
Last July the city of Barcelona launched the City Protocol initiative with a workshop involving more than 200 participants from all over the world, including Cities, Academia, Industries and Organizations.
“The City Protocol is a new open, global, and progressive working framework for cities worldwide to assess and improve performance in environmental sustainability, economic competitiveness, quality of life, and city services, by innovating and demonstrating new leadership models, new ways of engaging society, and by leveraging new information and communication technologies (ICT).
The City Protocol is being developed through a community: a partnership of cities, companies, academia, organizations and the civil society that participates directly in its development and takes roles in its supporting organizations. All these key actors will constitute the City Protocol Society.”
A key element of the initiative is about new ways of engaging society and leveraging ICT. While the City Protocol will develop, FUPOL will have the opportunity to show its value in engaging the society to support new advanced policy making.
